Board Profiles

BOARD PROFILES

Camrock.png

This twin profile is ideal for deep powder float and solid grip on hard snow. Front rocker for float and easy turn initiation, mild camber between the bindings and back rocker towards the tail for switch riding and landings.

TRUE TWIN SHAPE

As the name suggests, the tip and tail of a true twin board are of the same length and width. True twins are often freestyle or park boards, allowing the rider to ride just as well with his left or right foot in front. True twin shapes sometimes come with a set-back, which means the insert packs are moved usually a couple of cm backwards, giving better float in powder.

WOOD CORES

ULCORE.png

UL FOREST CORE

The UltraLight Forest Core is made of poplar, bamboo and paulownia. As the name suggests, it is light but also highly resistant and snappy. Bamboo is dense; it adds rebound and response. Paulownia brings lightness and poplar offers stength and durability. The wood used in this core comes from responsably-managed forests.

ELEMENT CORE

The Element Core is a beef-up version of the UL Forest Core. As in the latter, bamboo adds rebound and response. Paulownia brings lightness and poplar offers stength and durability. In the Element Core, laminated biax fibre has been added to the core, bringing extra pop and strength to the board. The wood used in this core comes from responsably-managed forests.

LIQUID SIDEWALLS

POLYURETHANE LIQUID SIDEWALLS

Starting from 2023-24, most of our sidewalls are made of liquid polyurethane poured directly in CNC-milled wood core channels which follow the outline of the boards. These Liquid Sidewalls are very damp and have a dense rubbery feel, similar to skateboard wheels. They considerably absorb vibration and constitute a bullet-proof barrier, protecting your board from outside agression. They are extremely resistant and make your board pleasantly smooth to ride. The also reduce fatigue and bring a lot of stability to the board at high speed.

BAMBOO TOPSHEETS

ORGANIC BAMBOO TOPSHEET

In an effort to reduce our reliance on petroleum-based materials, we introduced bamboo veneer topsheets since the inception of Borealis back in 2013. This has allowed us to reduce our use of plastics by about 40%.

Bamboo is an extremely renewable grass, capable of growing up to 1m in 24h. Its super-fast growth and wide availability makes it a sustainable alternative to other topsheets.

On top of that, bamboo brings a unique organic feel to our snowboards. It offers pop, dynamism and snap whilst at the same time providing an additional layer of damping. Quite an extraordinary plant indeed. Plus we think think it looks beautiful.

DNA BIOPLASTIC TOPSHEET

High impact and chipping-resistant alternative eco-friendly solution. Our DNA bioplastic topsheets contain 50% of PA11, which is a renewable bioplastic obtained from oil extracted from castor plant beans, ricinus communis.

VIBRAGUM TOPSHEET

Made from TPU, this topsheet is strong, durable, and offers an extra layer of dampening to the board.

sidewave/cut

SIDEWAVES & SIDECUT

sidewaves.png

SIDEWAVES & REVERSE RADIUS

Mellow disruptions are added to the sidecut in front and behind of both binding areas. We call them Sidewaves. They add grip and edge hold to the board on very hard or icy terrain. Next time you see a dodgy-looking ice patch, you'll know your board's Sidewaves will slice through it and maintain you on course with confidence and comfort.

Many Borealis snowboards come with a reverse radius at the contact points. The transition from one radius to a reversed one right at the contact points makes them incredibly efficient at holding an edge. Carving at high speed feels rediscovered and secure, and you'll up your game faster than it takes to say it.

PROGRESSIVE SIDECUT

This type of sidecut is designed to allow you to make small turns easily at lower speeds and to stay super stable and agressive when bombing down at mach 2 in bigger turns.

Between the contact points and the inserts, the radius is smaller, more playful. When gaining speed and turning, the central part of the board is more solicitated. The wider radius then takes over, adding support, stability and increased edge hold when you need it the most.
